CFD Simulations of HVAC Layout

An HVAC layout is designed to manage temperatures and effectively distribute air through a space. Proper air movement and temperature distribution help meet design goals related to energy consumption, contaminant containment, indoor air quality, and human comfort. These design goals can be addressed by evaluating simulation results that predict the operating performance of an HVAC Layout.

Learning Objectives

  • Characterize common HVAC components to accurately capture their physical behavior in Simulation CFD.
  • Interpret flow and thermal simulation results to improve HVAC layout.
  • Practice the CFD simulation setup and results review process for an HVAC layout design scenario.

This module will focus on the common components and results visualization associated with HVAC layout simulations.  A fundamental understanding of the software is required as this module will not cover general software-related tasks.
