This course was developed for practicing engineers within the AEC industry, and advanced students, who are looking for a primer on using Autodesk Simulation CFD on their projects. This is the first of a series of six courses, and is meant for people who are new to Simulation CFD.

Simulation CFD Fundamentals 1: Simulation Process, Geometry, and Materials

Gain a fundamental understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology. This course starts with an explanation of the workflow of Autodesk Simulation CFD, and how it can help the building design process. Then it covers the basic process of using your CAD geometry for CFD simulations. Lastly, you'll learn how to apply materials that capture the physical properties that you need to simulate in your model.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how CFD impacts AEC design efforts.
  • Gain exposure to the Autodesk Simulation CFD interface and simulation process by examining the energy implications that window selection has on an office space.
  • Gain understanding of CAD idealization and its benefits for CFD simulations.
  • Gain hands on familiarity with material and device types typically used in AEC applications.
  • Quantify the effects of material characterization on simulation results.
